Brief Description Storm Surge Warning
Detailed Description Storm surge is expected to return on Saturday afternoon at Herschel Island. An even stronger and more significant event is expected on Tuesday morning. The highest water level on Saturday is expected to reach 20 to 30 cm above highest astronomical tide in the afternoon. With each subsequent high tide, some minimal flooding is possible with highest water levels reaching 15 to 25 cm above highest astronomical tide. On Tuesday morning, a more significant event is expected with the high tide where the highest water levels are expected to reach 40 to 50 cm above highest astronomical tide. Water levels are expected to slowly recede Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Moderate flooding is likely. These conditions can cause damage to infrastructure near the coast, including boats beached or anchored along the shoreline.
