Brief Description Flood Warning
Detailed Description The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota. Minnesota River at Montevideo affecting Yellow Medicine, Chippewa and Lac qui Parle Counties. .Rainfall from Sunday and forecast rain from Sunday night through Monday will cause significant rises in area rivers. The river gage at Montevideo should rise to above Minor flood stage over the next couple of days. * WHAT. Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE. Minnesota River at Montevideo. * WHEN. From Tuesday morning until further notice. * IMPACTS. At 17.0 feet, Storm sewers may need to be plugged to prevent water from backing up into streets. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 800 PM CDT Sunday, the stage was 12.8 feet. - Forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage late Tuesday morning and continue rising to a crest of 15.8 feet early Friday morning. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - Flood History. This crest compares to a previous crest of 15.8 feet on 06/04/1972.
