| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE. Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. This includes the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon burn scar. * WHEN. From noon MDT today through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Increasing moisture, along with daytime heating, is expected to produce thunderstorms over the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon burn scar this afternoon. Storms will move very slowly and be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall with rates of around 2 inches per hour. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
