3:22 PM CDT Wednesday 17 April 2024 Snowfall Warning in effect for: Island Lake - Oxford House - Gods Lake A prolonged period of snowfall continues as a low pressure system stalls over the province. Locations impacted: Thompson, Nelson House, South Indian Lake, regions south of Lynn Lake, Flin Flon, The Pas, Cross Lake, Jenpeg, Oxford House, Gillam and Shamattawa. An additional 5 to 10 cm of snow is forecast for Wednesday night. Northeastern Manitoba will see an additional 5 to 10 cm on Thursday followed by another 5 cm on Thursday night into Friday giving storm total accumulations of 20 to 30 cm for most regions. For northeastern Manitoba, the heaviest snow will likely fall between the townsites of Island Lake and Gillam giving slightly lesser amounts to the communities themselves. The snow will taper off through the day on Friday. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
