10:38 PM EDT Saturday 27 April 2024 Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for: Manitoulin Island At 10:37 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This cluster of severe thunderstorms is located 24 kilometres south of Burnt Island, moving southwest at 200 km/h. Hazards: Hail size of 2 cm in diameter or Nickel size. Locally heavy rainfall up to 50 mm within an hour. Locations impacted include: Pleasant Valley, Spring Bay, Big Lake and Bass Creek. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
