2:03 PM EDT Monday 29 April 2024 Freezing Rain Warning in effect for: Nipigon - Marathon - Superior North Freezing rain continuing into the afternoon. Hazards: Icy surfaces due to freezing rain. Ice accretion or build-up of 1 to 3 mm. Timing: Continuing into the afternoon. Discussion: Freezing rain will change to rain early this afternoon, however areas of higher terrain may see freezing rain continue through the afternoon. Areas close to the shore of Lake Superior may have seen a changeover to rain already. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
