| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE. A portion of southeast Virginia, including the following area, Norfolk/Portsmouth. * WHEN. From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. A very moist airmass and strong instability suggests high rainfall rates of 2-4" per hour will be possible. These rainfall amounts could fall on areas that have received significant rainfall over the past week, exacerbating any flooding impacts. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
