* WHAT. Flooding caused by a glacier-dammed lake outburst continues. * WHERE. The Salmon River near areas around mile marker 9 of the Salmon River highway. * WHEN. Until 930 PM AKDT Thursday. * IMPACTS. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - At 1045 PM AKDT, a trained weather spotter reported that the river water is murky and muddy, flowing quickly, and about 4 ft above its normal level. Spotter further reported that the water levels had been rising quickly with the river flow getting rougher and making surf/waves in its flow with trees on the edge of the riverbank starting to erode into the river. This indicates that a glacier-dammed lake outburst in areas around mile marker 9 of the Salmon River highway is occurring. Water is not crossing over the road at this time. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, especially near the Salmon River. - Inherent uncertainty in initial glacier lake volume will result in varying crest height and timing. - Some locations that will experience flooding include. Hyder.
