| Detailed Description | * WHAT. Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE. A portion of central New Mexico, including the following area, South Central Mountains. * WHEN. From noon MDT today through this evening. * IMPACTS. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - Another round of thunderstorms will develop along the Sacramento Mountains by early afternoon Friday, though showers may linger through early evening. Rainfall rates may exceed 2 inches per hour once again. Given the wet antecedent conditions due to Thursday's rainfall and flash flooding, increased runoff and additional flash flooding is likely on and downstream of the burn scars surrounding the village of Ruidoso. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
